Conus glaucescens (G. B. Sowerby, 1834)

For this specimen only a
representation is given through a drawing, without any description other than a
hint that this specimen would be a variety of Conus ventricosus. The
place where it was found is not even indicated. The shape represented in the
drawing is undoubtedly that of Conus ventricosus, but the coloring seems
to deviate considerably: on a white background, completely devoid of
transversal lines that can be traced back to an alternation of brown dashes and
white dots or lines, you can see large areas of brown which seem to be made up
of transversal lines placed side by side to form areas of color developed in an
axial direction. Only in correspondence with the lip, in the drawing are
transversal traces attributable to those that characterize Conus ventricosus.
