Conus camaronus (Olsson, 1964)

The shell is small or medium-sized, moderalety slender, with a high sharp spire composed of several neatly beaded or coronated whorls, the apical section more attenuated. The shoulder of all the whorls bear small nodes (about 22 on the last whorl), the shoulder on the spire whorls projects a little above the adjacent suture. The subsutural fasciole is narrow and smooth, except for faint spiral threads, and the arcuate growth lines whichat spaced intervals behind the shoulder nodes are large and coarse. The surface of the body whorl below the shoulder is crossed by strong spiral lirations; in some forms, these lirations are narrow so that their interspaces are wider and coarsely cross-threaded; in other, the spiral bands are wider, smooth, and the grooves between are merely pitted. On an average specimen, the spiral lirations number about 22. Aperture narrow, the columellar and pillar wall straight. The siphonal canal notch is small, no external fasciole. Margin of lip straight except near the shoulder where it curves a little inward.

Length 24,2 mm. , diameter 9,6 mm.

Holotype HSNM 643932

Questa specie č molto simile al Conus tortuosostriatus, che ha una diversa scultura sull’ultimo giro, un diverso rapporto H/L e sembra raggiungere dimensioni maggiori.
